The 92nd St Y Harkness Dance Center presents Jean Erdman Dance: Chronology and Mythology as part of its star-studded 75th Anniversary Season
Journey into Erdman’s world of dance and myth as her celebrated dances emerge from and dissolve into a visual environment created by media artist Paul Allman. Elizabeth Auclair, principle dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company performs Erdman's signature solos, The Transformations of Medusa (1942) with commissioned score by Louis Horst and Ophelia (1946) with commissioned score by John Cage. The 92Y Harkness Repertory Ensemble presents the premiere of Daughters: An Etude by Artistic Director, Nancy Allison along with other works. Experience Erdman’s evocative blend of world dance cultures and sensitive musicality that continue to fascinate and inspire.
